April Play of the Month With the game tied 2-2 in overtime and the Sabres desperately needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, Ilya Kovalchuk stole the puck from Thomas Vanek and broke in alone on Ryan Miller and finished the Sabres off with his 41st goal of the season. March Play of the Month With the Oilers battling for a playoff spot former Oiler Marty Reasoner returned to Edmonton and scored this game of a game-winner in OT, denying Edmonton a key point that may still come back to haunt them. Reasoner February Play of the Month Ilya Kovalchuk scored 13 goals in the month of February to earn himself NHL Star of the Month honors. His fourth, fifth, and sixth goals of the month game in this game against the Ducks, which Atlanta won 8-4 on the strength of Ilya's hat trick. Here is the third of those goals. Zach Bogosian's third-period goal stretch the score to 6-1, and while it was of little consequence in the game it was the first of what is sure to be many over the course of the rookie blueliner's career. December Play of the Month Joey Crabb was called up from the Chicago Wolves on Nov. 28 and has been in the lineup ever since. His first NHL goal was a special one as he broke in on Steve Valiquette and beat him glove side with a wicked wrist shot in front of the Atlanta faithful. With the Thrashers up 2-1 at home against the Panthers, Ilya Kovalchuk skates along the top of the crease and scores a beautiful goal while falling. |
