ATLANTA THRASHERS CROSS-ICE PROGRAM 2009-2010

The Atlanta Thrashers have joined forces with the local rinks (Duluth IceForum, Kennesaw IceForum and The Marietta Ice Center) to bring to you our 6th season of the USA Hockey-based Cross Ice program. This program is designed accommodate the Mini-Mite level (ages 5-8) by modifying their playing environment and allowing coaches to more effectively teach them game of hockey.

The USA Hockey Cross Ice Program is based on a model of practicing and playing hockey across the ice surface as compared to practicing and playing lengthwise. This cross-ice practicing and playing model has been used in many of the leading hockey nations in the world for a number of years and has stood the test of time. It has been shown that children who begin their hockey training in this environment have an outstanding hockey experience.

Currently the Atlanta Thrashers Cross Ice Program is being held at The Ice Forums (Duluth & Kennesaw) and The MIC (Marietta Ice Center). These clinics are hosted by our highly skilled community hockey development team. These coaches are trained specifically in the area of coaching the cross-ice philosophy and place great emphasis on fun!

MIC (Marietta Ice Center) – (11:40am- 12:40pm) **

• Session 1: 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31
• Session 2: 11/14, 11/21, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 12/26, 1/2
• Session 3: 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27, 3/6
   

Duluth IceForum – (Sundays, 4:10pm – 5:10pm) **

• Session 2 : 11/15, 11/22, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13, 12/20, 12/27, 1/3

Town Center IceForum – (Sundays, 4:10pm – 5:10pm) **

**Please note the following time changes for the Kennesaw Ice Forum on 12/27 and 1/3: Cross Ice – 5:10-6:10 pm and Hockey Initiation 6:20-7:20.

**Prerequisite to participating in the cross ice program: For participants who are 3-6 years old you must complete levels 1, 2 & 3 Snow Plow Sam Program. For participants who are above 6 years of ages, you must complete the Basic1 level skating program. Both are offered. Cost - MIC- Online discount!

• Below costs include 8 sessions (1 per week)
• 1 Thrashers Cross-Ice practice jersey and 1 pair of hockey socks.

MIC: Register on here at Atlantathrashers.com and your cost will be $140. If you register at the rink the cost will be $165.

Cost - Ice Forums- Duluth and Town Center

• Below costs include 8 sessions (1 per week)

• Thrashers Cross-ice Helmet Sticker

Duluth and Town Center IceForums:  $150.

All Locations: All payments will be collected upon your arrival and check in prior to the first session.
 

Cross Ice Jamboree!

By participating in this program, players and their families will be eligible to register to take part in the Cross Ice Jamboree! On Sunday, March 14th, we will host the 3rd annual Cross Ice Jamboree where the youth players will participate in a cross-ice clinic (with games) on the official ice of your NHL Atlanta Thrashers! After participating in the clinic with our featured guest instructors, and special guest THRASH, you will have a ticket to the game to watch your Thrashers take on the Phoenix Coyotes! Additional tickets to the event and the game will be offered at a special discounted rates to Cross Ice friends and families!

Cross-ice Jamboree Event Includes:

• A group Photo on center ice at Philips Arena!
• Opportunity to meet and skate with THRASH!
• A clinic taught by the Pros!
• Atlanta Thrashers Cross-ice Jamboree medal for your participation in this special event.
• A ticket to the 3/14 Thrashers vs. Coyotes game.
