| What You Really Need To Know |
|
It was a tale of three very different periods Thursday night in Blueland, ending with the Thrashers simply running out of time to complete the comeback. Atlanta outscored 4-0 and out-shot 20-8 in the first period as the Isles capitalized on a couple careless giveaways that resulted in easy goals. The second period saw the Thrashers respond with physical play that saw 20 penalty minutes between the teams and stalled New York's offensive momentum.
Finally, in the third period, a long strike by Zach Bogosian rattled around the back of the net and sparked a run of three goals that cut the lead to 4-3. The teams traded goals as Atlanta had multiple chances to tie the score, but in the end the Islanders held on to avoid being swept in the season series for the first time in franchise history.
